Sooty represents British children’s entertainment at its very best, incorporating hilarious slapstick comedy routines and magnificent magic tricks. Joined by Sweep and Soo, this mischievous bear is always up to no good. Richard Cadell is the current presenter of Sooty.  Richard was discovered by Matthew Corbett when he won the Young Magician of the Year award at 15.  Matthew Corbett has lent his full support “I am delighted that Sooty is in, or should I say on, the right hands. Sixty years of Sooty:

1948 – Harry Corbett buys Sooty on Blackpool pier for 6 pence

1952 – Sooty & Harry become regulars on the BBC’s Saturday’s Special

1957 – Sooty is joined by loveable squeaking dog Sweep

1976 – Matthew Corbett takes over from his father.

1988 – Sooty first meets Richard Cadell who appears as a guest in a Christmas special

1998 – Matthew hands over to Richard Cadell.

2008 – Sooty celebrates his 60th anniversary.  Richard buys the Sooty rights from Hit Entertainment
