Britain's Favourite Family Films

FilmsNew poll uncovers the classic flicks that parents and kids love to share

There are few experiences that bond British broods like settling down together and enjoying a great family movie. Now, a new poll has determined the absolute favourite flicks that families love to watch.

It features an all-star cast of much-loved classics and recent box office smashes. In tenth place is the weepie, whaley tale of Free Willy, just pipped to the Number 9 spot by Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The first Toy Story movie comes in at number 8.

Older classics dominate the rest of the top ten, with The Wizard of Oz at 7th place, Mary Poppins at 6 and the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at 5. Shrek nabs the number 3 slot and Disney's Peter Pan is at number 2. But there's no stopping Johnny Depp's swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow, who re-enters the chart at Number 4 and Number 1 respectively with the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels The Curse of The Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest.

But while the movies we love to watch with our families may be timeless, the survey by car insurance expert Admiral shows that technology has changed the way we like to watch them. While younger parents spend the most time watching movies with their kids at home, one in six parents say that their children most want to watch DVDs on long car journeys.

There's clearly a little generational jealousy going on, as more than half (52%) of mums and dads say they wish they'd in-car DVD players when they were kids too. But whether kids like to feast on films by the fireplace with father or make the most of movies on the move, it seems certain that wherever they may be they just can't get enough of their favourite family films.

To help keep kids entertained on long journeys, Admiral is giving away the top three family films from the poll along with an in-car DVD player to watch them onTo be in with a chance of winning this prize simply visit www.admiral.com
